The Engineering Digest – October 2024

Welcome to this month’s round-up! We’re diving into the latest milestones in renewable energy, groundbreaking tech, and innovations that are shaping the future.

From record-breaking wind power to nuclear energy for data centers, plus a sneak peek into the Royal Navy’s newest submarine launch — there’s plenty going on in the world of engineering.

High Wind Speeds Give UK Renewable Energy Output a Major Boost!

In Q2 of 2024, wind power helped renewables reach 51.6% of the UK’s electricity mix, surpassing previous records. Onshore wind generation soared by 42% thanks to stronger winds and fewer outages.

While solar struggled due to fewer sun hours, wind came to the rescue, proving once again that nature’s power can drive the clean energy revolution.
