Stunning Images from The Royal Navy Photography Awards

The Royal Navy‘s annual Peregrine Trophy competition celebrates its talented photographers, who document the service’s vital global missions. The 2024 Images are in the judging process, with winners announced in January next year.
From emotional homecomings to frontline operations, the 2023 awards’ striking images showcase the Royal Navy and Royal Marines in action across oceans, skies, and diverse terrains.
Hythe Donates Welding Supplies to SETA College

This November, Hythe Engineering donated two Kemppi MIG welding sets and torches to Southampton Engineering Training Association Ltd (The), bolstering their workshops with industry-grade equipment. These weld sets will help apprentices enhance their MIG welding skills in the practice bays, guided by expert instructors.
“As a registered charity, established in 1969, we have spent the past 55 years committed to quality engineering training for young people. Donations such as the weld sets will help us to continue this work.”
– Dave Payne, Workshop Manager at SETA.

Opportunities and Challenges Facing the UK Nuclear Engineering Sector

With the drive for net-zero emissions by 2050, nuclear power stands as a cornerstone for reliable, low-carbon energy.
However, realising this potential involves significant challenges, particularly in engineering and supply chain management.
Royal Navy Destroyer Defends Western Coast of Europe In Atlantic Exercise

HMS Dauntless, a Type 45 destroyer, recently played a crucial role in defending Europe’s western coast during Exercise Sky Shark… which is possibly the coolest name ever. 🦈
Working alongside French allies, Dauntless showcased its advanced air defence capabilities, protecting against naval strikes, aerial threats from Rafale jets, and underwater challenges.
Good News! 🌱 Renewable Electricity to Overtake Fossil Fuels in UK This Year

Renewable energy from wind, solar and hydropower will account for more of the UK’s electricity output this year than fossil fuels for the first time.
The figures mark a major shift towards a lower carbon electricity system from a decade ago, when gas and coal accounted for almost 60 per cent of the country’s generation.
